So Cal Fixed Series - Morris Crit
With an unusual weather in southern California the season opener of the So Cal Fixed Series wasn't so sunny for the first half of the race. This year SCFS changed a few things up a bit by offering a second category for men athletes and the younger generation. The new Attack category added is meant to attract younger and inexperienced athletes that need that extra push and development to get to the level of Elite riders. With over 40 racers participating it definitely was a good show to watch and keep an eye out for future racers that will tie in perfectly with the vision of our brand. We are stoked to see the sport growing not only in the younger racers but the Women field as well. This year we we are happy to announce Alex Reich as part of the Throne Team for 2017, she is a local in the road cycling scene of San Diego and a resident in the Orange County area. She along 21 other women came out to race and what looked to be the worse rain of the day, they definitely left it all on the field. Alex along 3 other women got away on a break early in the race so we knew it was going to come down to a sprint finish and with one lap to go they definitely kicked it up a notch. Alex came out looking strong for the first race of the series and landed a 3rd place podium spot and what looks to be a promising series.
As the Elite men lined up the sun finally started to show it self and it quickly dried up some of the course. This year we also added some Men to our roster, one of them a local to all the crits here in LA, Jerry Rios. He came out in full force and although he hadn't been spinning on a track bike for a few months he definitely showed his determination and power with the help of James. With it being the first race of the season we are glad to have a solid team for 2017 and are stoked to be racing with like minded individuals. Keep a look out for us for the rest of the series and swing by our team tent for goodies and giveaways.
